kinzua

a path in a bright green woods

minolta freedom ii point and shoot and fuji 200. my partners and i went on a weekend vacation up to northern pa to stay in a cabin and have no internet service or any digital contact with the world, and hike in some pretty forests. and it was real nice. one of the things about me that is a recurring theme…my ass does NOT like the modern web. or the consume at all costs devouring cancer in almost all modern tech. so it was nice to not have computer around. and i brought my little point and shoot with me for it, which i do on most vacations, and got this picture.

it’s named after kinzua, because this trail was around kinzua falls. the story of kinzua falls and the kinzua dam is fucked, and the plaque on the site of the location barely paid any heed, and even justified, the genocidal actions that made it exist in the first place. the federal government forcibly claimed land belonging to 600 seneca peoples and built a dam upstream of it, flooding their homes. this was in direct violation of treaty and also just a vile thing to do in the first place.
